Pointe Orlando inks new tenant

Pointe Orlando signed a deal in late October that will bring a 14,000-square-foot comedy club and restaurant to a space that has been vacant since 2006.

The new Improve Comedy Club and Dinner Theater, slated to open in spring 2010 on the second story of the lifestyle center, will feature 400 seats and resurrects a concept that was on Church Street in downtown Orlando several years ago, said Susan Godorov, vice president of marketing, mall and lifestyle retail for landlord Centro Properties Group.

The 300-seat restaurant, dubbed Fat Fish Blue, is a Cleveland, Ohio-based concept that features a New Orleans-themed menu.

Tampa-based JCC Contracting Services Inc. is the general contractor on the project.

The new tenant, which is expected to hire 100 people, will replace the former Matrix and Metropolis clubs, which closed in February 2006, Godorov said, adding that Pointe Orlando is now 75 percent occupied.

The owners declined to share the project value.

Pointe Orlando is an outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment center on International Drive near the Orange County Convention Center.
