{mosimage}A new law on adoption was approved by the Brazilian Senate on 15 October, she aims to make some changes in the adoption process. The measure prevents children and adolescents remain for more than two years in public shelters, making the act to adopt less bureaucratic for the families concerned.

The idea for the creation of the new law was based by the ECA (Statute of Children and Adolescents), after undergoing tests she finally had its presidential sanction. Children who are looking for adoptive parents, will now have a national database that streamlines the process of adoption. Once approved, the law has 90 days to take effect.

New Adoption Law: changes in time to adopt a child

Among the topics that constitute the new law of adoption, are:



• Prior preparation of adoptive parents to receive the child into a new home
• When a child is accepted by the homeless, those responsible must notify the judge within 24 hours.
• They will receive severe punishment informal adoptions in Brazil.
• Public entities must provide assistance to mothers who wish to deliver their children to adoption.
• Adoption individual becomes more valued.
• International adoption only as a last resort
