|
January 13, 2009 Police say 27 year old Juvon Mays shot and killed a father of five in Rantoul, just days before Christmas. Nashville police caught up with him during a traffic stop for an expired license plate. Police say it was a combination of dumb luck and diligent police work.Nashville police pulled over a car for an expired sticker. Juvon Mays happened to be sitting in the backseat. Mays gave police a false name, but hte person driving that car was Mays' brother who inadvertently told police his brother's real name. That's when Nashville police ran Juvon Mays through a database, they found his murder warrant. Rantoul police say they're lucky Tennessee authorities payed close attention to the two men. "It's a huge relief for the family, probably one of the best phone calls I've gotten to make to let the family know we've got him in custody. It's a huge relief for them, they're ecstatic," said Sgt Marc Beach. Rantoul police made the drive down to Nashville, and they're already questioned him about his role in the December murder. |
