3 Students Testified They Had Sexual Encounters With Math Teacher

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Sumner County grand jury has indicted a teacher in Portland, Tenn., on charges of having sex with a student on school property during school hours.

An indictment returned by a Sumner County grand jury last week charged Binkley with nine counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and three counts of sexual battery by an authority figure.

During a court hearing, three students testified that they had sexual encounters with Binkley during school hours.

Sandy Binkley taught math at Portland High School. She was suspended without pay after her arrest.

She is scheduled for arraignment Jan. 23.
