| Bacon Brothers perform at fundraiser for cash-strapped Philadelphia Mummers Parade |

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Actor Kevin Bacon and his brother are helping out a century-old Philadelphia tradition. The Bacon Brothers performed at a fundraising concert Saturday night to raise money for the annual Mummers Parade. The parade of sequined, feathered marchers and musicians is held every New Year's Day. The first official parade happened in 1901 but the tradition dates to the 17th century. Save the Mummers chairman George Badey says proceeds from the concert will help pay for city services related to the parade and provide prize money to cover the costs of costumes and props. Last year, the city decided it could no longer pay out the more than $300,000 in prizes. |
