{mosimage} This Thursday December 31 in evening, into full preparations with the midnight supper, the Moon will offer a gift to us to close the world Year of astronomy: a visible partial eclipse in Europe, in Africa, in Asia and Australia.

In its race around our planet, it happens that the Moon crosses the cone of shadow which the Earth projects contrary to the Sun. It will be the case partly on December 31 with 19:22 in universal time (YOU), that is to say 20:22 in French hour. At this moment, approximately 8% of Full moon will be darkened, our natural satellite coming effluxes the terrestrial cone of shadow.

The entry in the shade will have begun 40 minutes earlier (18. 51 YOU) but the eclipse will have truly started with 17:15 YOU with the entry in the terrestrial half-light (caused by the atmosphere of our planet), an unperceivable episode with the naked eye. The exit of the shade will occur with 19:53 YOU and the complete end of the eclipse to 21:30 YOU.
