The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce's board has unanimously endorsed discussions to alter the city's lease with the NHL's Nashville Predators, making it easier to keep the team in local ownership hands. While no details were endorsed, the Chamber Wednesday issued a resolution and endorsement, and promised to re-examine details in the future, according to a press release. Among other benefits the Chamber says it hopes to promote in a new lease is an endorsement that a lease will "position the local group to identify and bring new avenues of supporting the community and its economy through the Predators Foundation." The Chamber also says it would like "the new mayor to move quickly with the discussion with the involved parties and the Metro Council regarding the lease since both candidates Bob Clement and Karl Dean have expressed strong support for the team as a community asset and have indicated they will work to achieve a lease that will ensure the team stays in Nashville." |
