The investment group pursuing a $193 purchase of the Nashville Predators could finalize its deal before the National Hockey League by mid-September. Bill Daly, deputy commissioner of the NHL, says the board of governors will meet in Chicago on Sept. 18. But Daly told the Business Journal the agenda hasn't been completed yet. The mostly local suitors include David Freeman of 36 Venture Capital; Herb Fritch of HealthSpring Inc.; Chris Cigarran of Healthways; Tom Cigarran of Healthways; Joel and Holly Dobberpuhl of Franklin; De Thompson V of Thompson Machinery; and John Thompson of Thompson Machinery. William "Boots" Del Biaggio of San Jose, Calif., has also joined the group and promised to help keep the Predators in Nashville. The group has issued a letter of intent to buy the NHL team from owner Craig Leipold for $193 million. |
