Controversial Tennessee Titan's cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones has signed an exclusive contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
The company, which trades as TNA Entertainment LLC, operates out of Nashville and has an office in Orlando.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"We are well aware of the controversy that might surround this signing, but it is our goal to help Pacman during his time away from football," says TNA President Dixie Carter in a press release.

Jones will make his first in-ring appearance Aug. 9 on iMPACT!, which airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Spike TV.

He is scheduled to appear on TNA's "Hard Justice" pay-per-view Aug. 12, from Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., to reveal his plans.

"I am a big fan of wrestling, so I wanted to give it a try," Jones says in a statement. "I respect wrestling and I'm not coming in like it's just a show. I want to prove that I am the greatest team-sport athlete."

In April, Jones was suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for the 2007 season for violating the league's personal conduct policy. Jones has had several run-ins with law enforcement since joining the Titans in 2005, including charges related to a fight in a Las Vegas strip club earlier this year that left one man paralyzed. He hasn't been convicted of any charge.
