Governor Phil Bredesen and the Tennessee Department of Education announced $12.3 million in grants for Coordinated School Health Partnerships (CSHP).
CSHP partner families, community members and schools to create a culture focused on health awareness, physical activity, and health, nutrition and counseling services.

The investment group pursuing a $193 purchase of the Nashville Predators could finalize its deal before the National Hockey League by mid-September.
Bill Daly, deputy commissioner of the NHL, says the board of governors will meet in Chicago on Sept. 18.

David Freeman of 36 Venture Capital LLC has confirmed the makeup of the ownership team which is seeking to buy the Nashville Predators.
Previously, Freeman would only disclose the names of himself, Herb Fritch, HealthSpring CEO; and William "Boots" Del Biaggio of San Jose, Calif.

Controversial Tennessee Titan's cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones has signed an exclusive contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
The company, which trades as TNA Entertainment LLC, operates out of Nashville and has an office in Orlando.
Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"We are well aware of the controversy that might surround this signing, but it is our goal to help Pacman during his time away from football," says TNA President Dixie Carter in a press release.

Local group adds Del Biaggio, signs letter of intent to buy Preds |

A local group of investors announced Wednesday they've signed a letter of intent to buy the Nashville Predators from Craig Leipold and bolstered their ranks with the addition of businessman and NHL team co-owner William "Boots" Del Biaggio.
The California businessman had been seen as a rival, but the Nashville-area investors embraced him and brought him in to negotiate with Leipold. A letter of intent ensures exclusive negotiations and is a first step toward a binding agreement.
