January 16, 2009 NASHVILLE -- Titans coach Jeff Fisher now finds himself in the market for a coordinator for a second year in a row. The Detroit Lions hired away Jim Schwartz as their new head coach on Thursday, leaving Tennessee with the defensive coordinator opening. Fisher congratulated the Lions on their choice and said the Titans believed Schwartz has been ready for this step for a few years.Fisher says they will take their time replacing Schwartz in a process already under way. The Titans had to hire a new offensive coordinator in 2008 after Fisher fired Norm Chow about a year ago. Fisher quickly brought back Mike Heimerdinger to take a job he had held previously with Tennessee. |
