Axeda and Perle Systems Partner to Provide Secure Remote Management for Unconnected Assets

Nashville, TN - Axeda Corporation and Perle Systems have partnered to provide an end-to-end remote service management solution for any device with a serial port – allowing even more companies to take advantage of the proven benefits of remote service technology. The Axeda® ServiceLink solution enables product manufacturers to deliver remote service to their customers securely over the Internet, however certain assets do not have an Ethernet port and are not attached to the customer’s network. The combined solution enables the Perle Device Server to run the Axeda® Agent, allowing connection of these assets and secure 2-way transmission of vital service data across the Internet.

“Our partnership with Perle brings connectivity to previously unconnected products”, said David Canavan, vice president, OEM sales & business development, Axeda. “As companies continue to look for ways to reduce their cost of service delivery, the remote service management capabilities extended through this partnership become even more critical.”

The Axeda and Perle solution also provides an inexpensive way to retrofit remote service technology for products that cannot be modified, by attaching them to the small, ultra reliable, Perle Device Server as opposed to an external computer. This is also beneficial for products that would otherwise require an extensive testing and/or re-certification process if modified.

“A Perle Device Server gives Axeda ServiceLink users a very inexpensive way to monitor and manage remote assets,” said Julie McDaniel, vice president marketing, Perle Systems. “External computers are large, expensive and insecure. By contrast, Device Servers are rugged, very small, inexpensive and cannot be accessed by unauthorized personnel.”
